I've been home from Maui just long enough to discover that, apparently, I brought part of the island home with me ... in the form of approximately 4,000 grains of sand hiding in everything I packed. 🤣
Vacations, specifically beach vacays, are like that. We intentionally bring home photographs, souvenirs, but we also bring things we didn't necessarily plan to. And sometimes, those things leave lasting impressions.
Customer interactions work like that, don’t they? Every time we have a business encounter, we have the opportunity to leave behind something filled with meaning.
✨ A memorable sentence on social media
✨ A thoughtful response to a review
✨ A personal follow-up after a meeting
✨ A clear, welcoming experience on our website
✨ An intentional conversation that makes someone feel heard
Individually, these touchpoints might seem insignificant. Collectively, they become the impression someone gets from our brand. It's a strategy I put into practice with Authentic Impressions. From conversations to content, I want the experience people have with my business to reflect who I genuinely am and the kind of work I want to put on into the world. I've found these moments matter. They build relationships, create familiarity, and establish the trust that leaves people feeling good about the work they do with me.
At the end of the day, brands aren't like a meet-cute movie or novel where one grand gesture suddenly makes everything fall into place. Lasting brands are built by making small, significant impressions that we leave behind time and time again.
That's the kind of communication work I relish: finding the words to create those impressions and helping businesses use them intentionally. And now, if you'll excuse me, I probably have another 2,000 grains of Maui to vacuum out of my suitcase. 😉
